Health insurance schemes are quite popular in a lot of places. It is a way that many can have access to cheaper health services. Do you make use of that? Of what benefit has it been to you?

What do you mean by this?

Sorry dumb here.
Do you not health insurance providers where you live? Ones that give health insurance that can then pay for private hospital care? And other stuff like some can pay for the cost of a GP visit, glasses, dentist etc.

I have a GP. But I also have the government insurance.
Health insurance is for private hospital care etc. For example in my country there is a public health system which is free but there is a long wait-list at times.

Private health insurance covers these costs and is a lot shorter. However you have to pay the insurance so it's not part of the free system.

A lot of people go for private because it's a lot quicker in most cases.

I know little about it. So much comes with my disability so I don't think about it. It's not like car insurance where I'm shelling out $69 a month with a credit card.

Now, at some point I'd like to get off this assistance and pay my own health insurance cause I feel more in control that way.

I am civil servant, so I get free insurance for which the government pays. But at times, its a hassle so I also pay for a private insurance which I can claim in most hospitals, zero waiting times and has cashless facility but it comes with a certain limit. They donot cover OPD expenses and donot cover lifestyle medications.

As far as the government insurance is concerned, the amount is unlimited, but its reimbursement and not cashless and there are no waiting system. But they are available onbly in a few selected hospitals in a few selected cities. However, they cover OPD expenses and lifestyle medications.

So I play a flexible game and claim both according to what I can so that my healthcare expenses are nil :D

I pay for mine and my wife's. We have United Health which is the same insurance that had the CEO that was murdered by that crazy dude in NY.

It's not good insurance at all.

We also have some addons that we pay elsewhere like accident insurance, chemo insurance in case we get cancer, and I pay for helicopter insurance for the whole household which is smart because where I go usually are places only a chopper will be able to get to.

i have health insurance. I have a monthly payment option that i do every month for me and my daughter. Without health insurance chances of getting proper medical care are very very low. It's quite expensive though but i have no choice, proper health care is Very important.
