Does age matter in relationship/marriage?

There's a common saying which goes like this - "Age is just a number". To some people, it matters in relationship or their marriage while to some, it doesn't matter.

For me, age matters a lot in whom I'm getting into a relationship with. I wouldn't be in a relationship with someone older then me being the man. The same thing is with whom I'm getting married to.

If your age mate couldn't date you, why would I whom is younger start dating you?

The wife and I are 9 years apart and no one ever seems to care. As you get older, age seems less important.
