What do you think about horror genre?

Do you read horror? Well, horror is not my favorite genre when it comes to reading, however, I have read some really interesting horror books, especially by Stephan King and Mary Shelley. I have also read a couple of other authors whose names I cannot remember at the moment. What do you think about horror literature?
