Big forums

When we often talk about forums, we compare ours to 'BIG forums'.

What I dont understand is how and on what metrics do people analyse and point out that a particular forum is big?

For me, unless its a roleplaying forum, I consider atleast 10,000 posts and 5000 threads as a part of a big forum. However, in roleplaying forums, anything more 2500 posts as abig forum because its difficult to gather steam for them.

What are your ideas?

You forgot to use the member metrics. The number of members in the forum should also count right? A forum with above 3000 members is big in my books.
