Promotion avenues

Gone are those days when one forum would be an effective method to promote new and upcoming forums. Gone are also those days when we could expect people to join our forums through word of mouth as people have moved over to social media and away from forums.

In this changing landscape, what are the new promotion strategies that forums take up to bring traffic and content to their forums?

People are always hungry for info they can't get elsewhere and they could bribed (ethically) into posting in your forum, creating a hangout.

Anyway, the goal of a forum is often to create a hangout atmosphere. That really makes your forum alive.

If promotion can't be achieved on other forums, then where exactly can it be done? It is true that most people would prefer scrolling through social media than be active on forums which are better off. Maybe there's a way promotion can be done on those various social media platforms, so that more people can be reached.

I do not see any point in promotion because in this age of social media everyone is going to social media. I think we need to focus more on SEO so that people com,e her to check on information and consider joining in if they find valuable information.

There are forums that are hangouts, which is a goal for forums. I've seen some guitar and drumming forums like that.

I've seen the discussion surrounding promoting forums on Social Media and I do not think I have heard it be a successful avenue. I also disagree that word of mouth doesn't work, word of mouth is still the strongest method of getting the word out about just about anything.
