What are the famous regional heritage contests in your area?

In my place, it is an eating contest where candidates eat as much as 'Gol Gappas' which is a oil fried wheat/rice based batter that is always made thin and crispy. Similarly, in Europe, I remember reading about a tomato smashing competition. These heritage regional contests are idea in building regional identity and promoting tourism.

There is one in my country where people compete in drinking. Whoever can drink more alcohol over a short period of time without getting drunk wins.
